One of two deputy directors of the Walworth County Health and Human Services Department will take over for the outgoing director and the other will retire Friday.

Elizabeth Aldred will replace retiring department head Linda Seemeyer, and David Thompson will retire from the department but maintain his private practice in Burlington. The last day of work for Seemeyer and Thompson will be Friday, and Aldred will assume the director position Monday.

Aldred started at the Health and Human Service Department in 2006 as the manager of mental health and alcohol and other drug abuse services. She became a full-time deputy director in February 2007 when Seemeyer was hired as the department’s director. Aldred joined Thompson, who has been a part-time director for more than 20 years.

“All of us are quite a team,” Aldred said. “Linda and I see things very similarly. She’s been a wonderful person to work with all these years.”

With Thompson retiring and Aldred becoming director, one of the two deputy director positions will be eliminated in the 2015 budget. The department is recruiting externally and conducting an internal search to fill the position, Aldred said.
