Ida Mae Moat (nee Mitchell), 95, died peacefully at her home May 7, 2023, surrounded by her family.
She was the beloved wife to Herbert Moat for 62 years.
She was born in Elkhorn and attended East Troy schools.
She left school before graduation to marry the love of her life, Herb. They farmed for many years prior to moving to East Troy where Herb worked for the Equity Coop.
Ida Mae worked briefly at Alpine Valley and then for 24 years as a cook in the East Troy School District.
She considered motherhood as her real vocation and she was a “super mom” and grandmother.
Ida Mae is survived by her children, Mary Moat, Robert (Jean) Moat, Ronald Moat, and Kathleen MacKenzie; grandchildren, Steve (Dana), Tim, Issac, Zachary, Crystal(Segal), Niel Moat, and Sean MacKenzie; nephew, C. Ben Mitchell; many beloved great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Pearl (nee Mills) Mitchell; her beloved husband, Herb; brother, Warren Mitchell; son, Kenneth; son-in-law, John MacKenzie; and daughter-in-law, Lyn Gehring.
Per her wishes there will be no formal memorial service. The family extends a huge thank you to Aurora Home Hospice staff and to Dr. Rebecca Zimmerman.
