Run, run reindeer

Despite blistering cold temperatures, the Elkhorn Parks and Recreation Department’s first 5K/2-mile Reindeer Run held Dec. 7 was a  success, hosting more than 135 people from about 10 different area communities. All participants received race shirts and prizes were awarded for best holiday dressed, best elf costume and best Santa look alike. An estimated total of $3,000 was raised by the event for the Elkhorn Park Dedication Fund, which will help to replace outdated equipment. The department is looking forward to holding the event annually.
