John C. Evans, 61, of Darien died as the result of injuries in an ultra lite crash. He was born Feb. 28, 1951 in Beloit to the late John R. Evans and Greta Buckley. He graduated from Delavan-Darien High School and the University of Whitewater and later received his Master’s Degree in education.
He did two tours of duty with the U.S. Marine Corp, in Vietnam. He married Kathleen McKinney on June 26, 1976 at Triune Lutheran Church in Darien.
After the Marine Corp., he worked for the State of Wisconsin as a state trooper for 20 years. He more recently taught inmates in the corrections system working on their GED. He was a past member of the Darien EMS and Darien Fire Department. He was an avid Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan.
He loved his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters, Elizabeth (Travis) Meinen of Delavan and Emily (Ed) Snyder of Walworth; sister, Sally (Terry) Walsh of Delavan and grandchildren, Emma, Matilda, Margaret and Meredith.
Funeral Services were Sept. 1 at Triune Lutheran Church in Darien. A private burial followed the funeral at the Darien Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Truine Lutheran Church or Darien EMS.
Betzer Funeral Home in Delavan assisted the family.
