The Rock Valley Conference boys and girls cross country championships were held Oct. 13 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Whitewater High School head coach Chad Carstens said the field was loaded as usual and that numerous state-ranked teams competed.
“Although the start and finish areas were muddy, the rest of the course was in great shape and the kids did not disappoint,” Carstens said.
The varsity boys competed first against three ranked teams.
“As one of the more youthful teams in the field, we held our own,” Carstens said.
The Whippets secured fourth place with 124 points and were led by first team all-conference finisher and sophomore Trenten Zahn.
“He returned to the lineup in spectacular fashion and raced with his goal in mind of earning his second consecutive first team all-conference finish, and he did not disappoint.”
Zahn earned seventh place in 17:23.
Freshman Gio Anello was the next Whippet, placing 17th overall and capturing a medal with his 18:07. Aidan Coburn grabbed the final all-conference position by placing 24th in 18:49.
