The two Whitewater High School swimmers had respectable showings at the WIAA State Swim Meet last weekend.
Sara Foucault finished 7th in the 200 individual medley, posting a time of 2:13.65. This was a two spot improvement from where she began the meet.
Also swimming in the 100 Butterfly, Foucault took 10th place in what is a new event for the Whippets leading swimmer. Her time of 1:01.43 ends her high school career of 14 state swims as she moves on to college next season.
Sydney Zimdars used her offseason training to her advantage and finished the 500 freestyle in 5:21.73, good enough for 13th place overall.
“Sydney trained super hard this year and earned her first individual swim,” head coach Gina Foucault said. “Sydney swam an outstanding race. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.”
Foucault then turned her attention to those that helped throughout the season, including the cheering section that attended meets.
“A big thank you to all the supporters that came out to cheer them on and celebrate afterwards, I know it means a lot to them. Another thank you to Rita Hookstead for making the delicious, super-cool decorated cake.”
Foucault also congratulated both swimmers on having a terrific season.
