Sara Foucault and Sydney Zimdars will head to the WIAA State Swim Meet Friday after the Whippets places fifth as a team at the sectional competition last weekend.
Things started well at the sectional meet for Whitewater with the Medley Relay team of Sydney Zimdars, Sara Foucault, Debra Krebs and Grace Fanshaw finishing with a season best time of 2:00 flat.
Zimdars followed that up with a solid 200 freestyle race, finishing eighth with a time of 2:01.99 and helping her earn second place all-time in the Whippet record books. Anna Yeazel finished 14th in the same heat with a time of 2:10.07.
Sara Foucault posted a 2:14.69 in the 200 Individual Medley event, earning third place overall and a spot at state. Grace Fanshaw finished out her season with a sixth place finish, at 2:23.21, putting her fifth all time for Whitewater High School.
Foucault continued to swim well later in the sectional meet, finishing second in the 100 Butterfly and earning a spot at state. Foucault also took the school record with her in the event, notching a time of 1:01.05.
Zimdars wasn’t done yet as she finished fourth, and earned a spot at state with her qualifying swim in the 500 Freestyle event. Her post of 5:24.04 landed her third all-time on Whitewater’s top 10 in the 500.
Debra Krebs swam a lifetime best in the 100 Backstroke, finishing at 1:04.91 and placing her in sixth overall. Krebs is now in third place in Whitewater’s top 10 for the 100 Backstroke.
Anna Yeazel also secured her name in the Whippets record books, posting a time of 1:15.06 in the 100 Breaststroke, finishing in a tie for seventh place at the sectional meet while placing her third all time for Whitewater at the event.
