Though the Whitewater girls’ swim teams fell to Badger Tuesday night, swimmers continued to drop significant time, according to head coach Gina Focault.
Some of those who shaved time off of previous swims included: Brittney Piper, 11 seconds, 200 Freestyle and 9 seconds, 100 Butterfly; Meghan Kehoe, five seconds, 100 Butterfly, Ally Carlson, four seconds, 100 Freestyle, Michelle Gantz, 15 seconds, 500 Freestyle, Karla Villarreal, 10 seconds, 50 Freestyle and Tania Aranda, five seconds, 100 Freestyle.
“Cristina Rodriguez swam a really agressive 100 Freestyle going 1:08.34 while Anna Obrajero took on the 100 Backstroke and did very well,” Focault said.
She also noted that Kassie Yeazel made her way to 4th place on the Top 10 All Time list in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:05.06.
WHS winners for varsity included: 200 Medley Relay – Debra Krebs, Callie Hebert, Sara Foucault and Kassie Yeazel; 200 Freestyle – Kassie Yeazel; 500 Freestyle – Sara Foucault; 100 Backstroke – Debra Krebs; and 100 Breaststroke – Callie Hebert. For JV winners were: 200 Freestyle – Madeline Kuhl; 50 Freestyle – Cristina Rodriguez; and 100 Breaststroke – Kara Ketterhagen.
Swimmers recording best times included: Tania Aranda (2,) Jacquelyn Caldwell (2,) Ally Carlson (2,) Sara Foucault, Michelle Gantz, Sydney Hackney, Megan Hartwell, Emily Heckert, Meghan Kehoe (2,) Shannon Kehoe, Kara Ketterhagen (2,) Debra Krebs, Madeline Kuhl (2,) Aide Mendoza (2,) Sierra Minton, Anna Obrajero, Brittney Piper (2,) Abby Ramirez (3,) Cristina Rodriguez (2,) Olimpia Soto (2,) Yvanna Strait (2,) Karla Villarreal (3,) Roxana Villarreal (2,) Kassie Yeazel and Sydney Zimdars.
The season is winding down with only a few meets remaining. Next up for the Whippets is a home meet Tuesday, Oct. 15 against the Burlington Co-op team.
