The Whitewater High School Varsity girls swim team has a strong showing against the Jefferson/Cambridge crew Tuesday night, winning the meet 86-76. The JV team beat Jefferson/Cambridge 92-46.
Ally Carlson, Courtney Frie, Meghan Kehoe, Krystal Leon, Cindy Manriquez, Ireland Marinaro, Sierra Minton, Brittney Piper, Karla Villarreal and Roxana Villarreal had their first race with the team at the meet.
“Cindy Manriquez had an inspiring race in the 100 Butterfly. Cindy learned this stroke only a month ago and did a fantastic job,” said Miller. “Sierra Minton was the only new comer to give a longer distance race a try doing the 200 Freestyle and swam a great race.”
Freshman Anna Yeazel added her name to the under :30 crew in the 50 freestyle. The team posted nine out of 11 first-place finishes in JV events and 10 out of 11 first-place finishes in varsity events. Varsity also took first and second place in the medley relay, 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 500 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay.
