The 2012 season came to an end last week at the Class A regional level for the Whitewater legion squad.

Playing at home, the seniors fell 12-9 to Horicon in its first game, followed by a 6-4 loss to Waterloo the next day.

Whitewater finished the summer at 13-10 overall. Jefferson won the regional title and competed this week at this year’s state legion tournament.

In the opener against Horicon, Braidon Voss took the loss for the seniors, as he worked four innings, and allowed eight walks, 12 runs, five hits and struck out six.

Luke Heller followed Voss to the mound and allowed one walk and struck out three in two innings, followed by Julian Sonn, who fanned three batters in his one inning of work.

Voss led the Whitewater offense with four hits, followed by Scott Gorsuch with two, including a double. Dan Schumacher also had two hits for the senior squad.

Facing elimination in the second game of the regional, Whitewater battled Waterloo to the end, but fell short in a 6-4 decision.

Sonn pitched a strong six innings for the seniors, as he allowed just one run, four hits, one walk and struck out two. Gorsuch worked one inning, and allowed four hits and struck out one.
