With the WIAA postseason now here, every game is a win-or-go-home format.

And for the Big Foot girls basketball team, they weren’t quite ready to pack things up for the season Tuesday night.

Big Foot took control from the get go against visiting Saint Francis with a 58-15 halftime lead and rolled to an 86-24 victory in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal. The win improved the Chiefs to 12-11 overall and sends them to a regional semifinal matchup tonight at Marshall.

The winner in the semifinal advances to a regional final against third-seeded Greendale Martin Luther or sixth-seeded Clinton on Saturday night.

There was a lot to like about the quarterfinal, Big Foot coach Mike Dowden said.

“I was most pleased about the effort last night,” he said. “I thought we got sluggish toward the end of the first half, but we were able to stay focused the rest of the game.”
