There is plenty of traffic at the top of the Rock Valley Conference girls basketball standings.
And after a key victory Tuesday night that snapped a three-game losing streak, Big Foot finds itself right in the thick of the action.
The Chiefs traveled to East Troy and picked up a 52-41 victory that improved them to 8-5 overall and 7-4 in conference play, and into a four-way tie for second place.
McFarland leads the pack at 9-2, followed by the Chiefs, Evansville, Big Foot and Whitewater, all at 7-4.
“We moved the ball well, played together, and I thought we brought a lot of energy,” Big Foot coach Mike Dowden said. “I felt like we took good shots all night, shared to the open player and trusted each other that everyone would make good decisions.”
Coming off three straight losses, the win was just what the Chiefs needed, Dowden said.
And there wasn’t any magical formula that got the job done, just a return to the basics.
“It was a big win for us,” he said. “We have been struggling to score because we have either turned it over, taken poor shots or just missed good shots lately, and I thought we have been trying to do a little too much.
