Trailing by just three points at 13-10 in the Division 3 sectional semifinal, the Big Foot girls basketball team was right where it needed to be.
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, that didn’t last.
Lakeside Lutheran finished the opening half on an 18-6 scoring run to take a 31-16 lead en route to a 61-48 victory that ended Big Foot’s season at 19-6. Lakeside lost, 61-39, to state-bound Marshall two days later in the sectional final.
That stretch in the first half was the difference, Big Foot coach Rick Schoenbeck said.
Read coverage of that game and Schoenbeck’s comments about the team’s seniors and highlights of the season in the March 9 Times/Reporter.
