Split for soccer, win for baseball, losses for softball

Monday’s Geneva National Invitational proved to be a tough outing for the Big Foot boys golf team.
The Chiefs finished 21st in the 24-team event with a score of 417. Badger was first with a 312, followed by Westosha Central and Waunakee with a 340, Monona Grove with a 341 and Platteville with a 343.
Finn Rowe led the Chiefs with a 92 (47-45), followed by Jacob Watters with a 99 (44-55), Jake Trosclair with a 112 (56-56) and Larson Larson with a 114 (53-61).
The outing Monday came on the heels of two other competitions the past week.
Big Foot opened action with a Rock Valley Conference home mini meet April 20, followed by a trip to the Milton Select Ball Tournament on Saturday.
The Chiefs fielded just two teams at Milton and didn’t register a score in the final result.
Milton won the event with a 202, followed by Westosha Central with a 206 and Lodi with a 210.
The Big Foot duo of Rowe and Larson was 16th overall with a 74 (37-37). Tim Weiss and Trosclair teamed for an 87 (44-43).
Big Foot was second behind Palmyra-Eagle in the RVC mini meet April 20. Palmyra posted a 191, followed by Big Foot with a 211, Beloit Turner with a 216, Clinton with a 217, Parkview with a 224 and Brodhead with a 237.
Weiss led the way with a 48, followed by Rowe with a 52, Watters with a 54, Larson with a 57 and Trosclair with a 62.
Current RVC standings show Palmyra on top with six points, followed by Big Foot with five, Turner with four, Clinton with three, Parkview with two and Brodhead with one.
Big Foot was back in action Thursday with an RVC mini meet at the Decatur Lake Golf Course, followed by the Evansville Invitational on Friday. The Chiefs will compete in the fourth RVC mini meet on May 1.
Soccer splits two
The Big Foot-Williams Bay girls soccer team opened play with a dominating 11-0 win April 20 over visiting Clinton, followed by a hard-fought 3-1 nonconference setback April 22 at Janesville Craig.
Maddie Palmer led the offensive onslaught against Clinton with four goals, followed by Abby Peterson with three and Meredith Heckert with two. Taylor Barkes and Sonja Ericson both had a goal apiece.
Hannah Palmer posted two assists, while Maya Torrez was credited with one.
Maddie Palmer scored Big Foot’s only goal in the loss to Janesville Craig. Goalie Enna Peterson was credited with 13 saves.
The Chiefs (3-2 overall) traveled to Whitewater on Thursday and host Burlington Catholic Central on May 1 for a 5 p.m. nonconference contest.
Baseball gets first win
The Big Foot baseball team broke a 4-4 tie with a three-run seventh inning Tuesday to beat Parkview 7-4 for its first win of the spring.
Big Foot (1-10) was led by Braden McCarthy’s three-hit attack. McCarthy also scored a run and drove in one. Jack Gillingham added two hits and an RBI, while Austin West had two hits and a run scored.
Heath Dillenbeck earned the win, as he worked 6 1/3 innings, and allowed nine hits, two earned runs, two walks and struck out five. McCarthy worked a clean two-thirds of inning for the save.
Big Foot dropped two hard-fought games earlier in the week, a 1-0 decision April 20 at McFarland, followed by a 4-2 nonconference loss April 21 at Badger.
Travis Berryman had Big Foot’s only hit in the loss to McFarland. McCarthy pitched six innings, and allowed three hits, an earned run in the third inning, three walks and struck out four.
Host Badger broke a 2-2 tie with a single run in the fourth and one more in the fifth in the 4-2 victory the next day. West led the offense with a hit and two RBI.
Big Foot hosted Parkview Thursday and hosts Milton in a nonconference contest Friday afternoon.
Softball drops three
The Big Foot softball team fell three times last week, a 13-3 nonconference decision April 21 at Badger, followed by a pair of hard-fought setbacks, 4-0 Monday at Beloit Turner and a 2-1 setback Tuesday at Parkview.
Big Foot is 2-9 overall and 2-6 in the RVC.
Against Badger, the Chiefs were led by Abbi Snudden’s two hits, Riley Davis with an RBI, Yesenia Gonzalez with two runs scored and Meghan Dykstra with one.
Riley Aleness took the loss, as she pitched four innings, and allowed nine hits, eight earned runs, six walks and struck out two.
Details from the two other games this week were unavailable.
Big Foot hosted Parkview on Thursday, followed by a road contest Friday at Milton. The Chiefs host Harvard (Ill.) on May 1.
