Tennis duo advances, soccer shuts out opponents, baseball wins two

The Big Foot-Williams Bay No. 1 doubles team of Michael Heidenreich and Adrian Hernandez earned a sectional berth with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at Monday’s Division 2 subsectional over Whitewater.
Big Foot competed in the East Troy Sectional on Wednesday.
Dropping matches were Jack Heidenreich at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 0-6 to McFarland; Liam McCarthy at No. 2, 3-6, 4-6 to McFarland; Alexis Duran at No. 3, 4-6, 4-6 to Edgerton; Evan Karabas at No. 4, 0-6, 4-6 to Edgerton; and the No. 3 doubles team of Ben Malone and Nelson Tovar, 3-6, 4-6 to Whitewater.
The Chiefs’ No. 2 doubles team of Hamilton Smith and Logan Grunow beat Whitewater 6-7 (3), 7-6 (1), 6-3 in the first round, but fell to Madison Edgewood in the second.

Big Foot closed its regular season May 19 with a 6-1 nonconference loss to Elkhorn. McCarthy, at No. 2 singles, posted the Chiefs’ lone win with an 0-6, 6-3 (10-8) decision.
Baseball wins two
Big Foot’s baseball team closed out its regular season with two victories last week, as the Chiefs defeated Parkview 11-1 in five innings May 19, followed by a 7-3 win over Elkhorn Tuesday.
The Chiefs opened Division 2 regional play on Thursday against Delavan-Darien. The winner advances to face top-seeded Greendale Martin Luther Tuesday, May 31.
Zak Greco, Jack Hereley and Conor McCarthy each had two hits in the win over Elkhorn. Greco and Hereley both drove in two runs, while McCarthy had one.
Braden McCarthy, who also had a hit, a run scored and an RBI, picked up the win, as he worked 6-2/3 innings, and allowed six hits, three earned runs, five walks and struck out two.
Big Foot scored three runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to end the Parkview game in five innings. Austin West led the way with four hits, three runs scored and two RBI, followed by Mark Schauf with four hits and two runs scored.
Heath Dillenbeck went the distance to earn the win, as he allowed four hits, one earned run and struck out three.
Also this week, the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association announced that Big Foot head coach Steven Bochat had been selected to coach in this summer’s All-State Games in Oshkosh.
The games, which include the top 72 high school seniors in the state, will be held June 24 and 25 at E.J. Schneider Field.
Chiefs post shutouts
The Big Foot-Williams Bay girls soccer team recorded a pair of 2-0 shutouts last week, first at Palmyra-Eagle May 19, followed by the same score on Monday at Monroe.

Big Foot (9-3-1, 7-0 RVC) closes its regular season Thursday night at McFarland. The Spartans are one game behind the Chiefs at 6-0 in the race for the conference title.
