A solid first half became an even better second last week for the Big Foot High School boys basketball team.
And the end result was an easy Rock Valley Conference home victory.
Big Foot led visiting Parkview 31-24 at halftime, and extended that advantage with a 46-34 second half to close out the scoring.
It wasn’t as easy as the final score may indicate, as Parkview jumped out to a 14-4 lead early in the first half before the Chiefs rallied.
The Vikings again tried to climb back into the game in the second half, as they pulled within four points, but the Chiefs withstood that rally to pick up the win.
Beau Cary had a huge night offensively for Big Foot with a game-high 31 points, followed by Michael Heidenreich with 12 and Chucky Rohner and Logan Eischeid each with nine.
Big Foot (7-10 overall, 5-7 RVC) traveled to Brodhead-Juda Thursday and will host South Division leader BeloitTurner next Tuesday, Feb. 16.
The Trojans began play this week at 10-2 in conference play, two games ahead of Clinton’s 8-4. The Chiefs currently sit in third place.
