Don’t look now, but the Big Foot girls basketball team is starting to get on a bit of a roll.
And it doesn’t seem to matter what conference the competition comes from – the Chiefs just keep doing their thing.
Big Foot ran out to a 36-14 halftime Monday night and cruised to a 61-40 non-conference victory over Division-2 and Southern Lakes Conference foe Burlington.
The victory improved the Chiefs to 10-4 overall.
Courtney Schoenbeck led the way with 16 points, followed by Morgan Courier with 14 and Olivia Briggs with nine. Payton Courier chipped in with six points and eight rebounds.
The win Monday came on the heels of a dominating Rock Valley Conference victory Jan. 15 over visiting Palmyra-Eagle.
Big Foot led 49-17 at halftime and cruised from there in a 72-26 win to improve to 7-2 in the RVC.
The Chiefs are just one game behind league-leading Brodhead’s 8-1 conference mark. The Cardinals beat Big Foot in the teams’ first meeting earlier this season.
Big Foot, which held Palmyra to just nine second-half points, was led by Morgan Courier’s 13 points, followed by Payton Courier with 12 and Brooke Wellhausen and Alexandria Demco each with nine.
The Chiefs return to conference play Thursday night when they host McFarland. Big Foot heads to East Troy next Tuesday for an RVC crossover matchup with the Trojans.
