Berryman leads wrestlers

Travis Berryman finished third for the Big Foot-Williams Bay wrestling team’s only place-winner at Saturday’s Badger Invitational.

Berryman, wrestling at 120 pounds, posted a 3-2 record. He started out with three straight wins, as he pinned Racine Park’s Ethan Weaver in 58 seconds, followed by back-to-back decisions.

In the second round, Berryman beat Clinton’s Seth Wisowaty 4-2, followed by a 7-1 win over Middleton’s Tyler Kersten.

Berryman forfeited his fourth match (no reason listed with results), followed by an 11-3 major decision loss to Sun Prairie’s Drew Scharenbrock, who ended the tournament at 30-0 this season.

Berryman now is 23-5 overall.

Also competing for the Chiefs were Rodney Flom (152), 0-3; Ethan Rowland (182), 0-5; and Titus Frederick (120), 0-5.

Berryman picked up Big Foot’s only victory in a 72-5 RVC dual meet loss Jan. 15 to visiting Beloit Turner.

In his 120-pound match with Gavin Campbell, Berryman posted a 19-2 technical fall victory.

Dropping matches to Turner were Nick Freymiller (285), by pin in 2:27; Fredrick (126), by pin in 2:23; Flom (152), by pin in 1:04; Ethan Michael (170), by pin in 23 seconds; and Ethan Roland (182), by pin in 55 seconds.

Big Foot also forfeited matches at 132, 138, 145, 160, 195 and 220 pounds. Both teams forfeited at 106.

The Chiefs return to action this weekend when they travel to the Monroe Invitational Saturday.
