Four Big Foot-Williams Bay wrestlers traveled to the Mid-States Invitational last week on the UW-Whitewater campus.

Travis Berryman (113 pounds) recorded the Chiefs’ only win in the 35-team, two-day event that traditionally draws some of the top individuals and teams from Wisconsin and Illinois.

After a first-round bye, Berryman fell 5-4 to Cary Grove’s Adam Pinter, before he pinned Sun Prairie’s Devon Weisenel in 1:08 in the first round of the consolation bracket.

Berryman forfeited his next match to Cedar Grove-Belgium’s Josh Testroete.

Also competing for the Chiefs were Titus Fredrick (120), Ethan Rowland (195) and Nick Freymiller (285).

Fredrick fell by pin in 3:01 to West Bend East’s Brandon Miller and in 1:31 to Maine East’s Jos Thomas. Rowland was pinned in 26 seconds by New Trier’s Joe Modica and in 18 seconds by Sycamore’s Matthew Hunter, while Freymiller fell in 18 seconds to Brookwood’s Bret Thorson and Stoughton’s Erik Haried in 38 seconds.

Big Foot finished 34th in the team standings with seven points. Stoughton won the team title with 234 points, followed by Badger with 180.5 and Downers Grove South with 176.
