The Big Foot girls basketball team climbed back above the .500 mark in the Rock Valley Conference Tuesday night.
But it wasn’t easy.
Big Foot fell behind 36-32 to visiting Clinton at halftime, but rallied back with a five-point advantage in the second to pull out a 62-61 victory.
The win improved the Chiefs to 3-2 in the RVC and 4-3 overall.
Courtney Schoenbeck led the way with 14 points, followed by Morgan Courier with 14 points, four steals and six assists. Payton Courier added 13 points and seven rebounds, followed by Olivia Briggs with 11 points and Brooke Wellhausen with six rebounds.
Big Foot made 15 of 20 free-throw attempts in the win. The Chiefs also knocked down five 3-pointers, including two each by Morgan and Payton Courier.
The win came on the heels of a 69-43 loss to defending WIAA Division 3 state champion Whitewater last week.
Whitewater jumped out to a 46-23 lead by halftime and cruised from there.
Morgan Courier had 12 points and five rebounds to lead the Chiefs, followed by Schoenbeck with 10 points and six steals and Payton Courier with nine points and five rebounds. Briggs added six rebounds for Big Foot.
The Chiefs close out their 2015 portion of the schedule Frida night when they host Beloit Turner. Big Foot then will be idle until Jan. 7.
