The Big Foot-Williams Bay girls soccer team officially is in a battle for the top spot in the Rock Valley Conference.

Big Foot secured its place at the head of the pack Tuesday night with a dominating 8-0 win over visiting Jefferson.

The victory improved the Chiefs to 7-2 in the RVC and 8-3 overall. Big Foot now is tied for the lead with East Troy, followed closely behind by McFarland at 6-1-1, Whitewater at 6-2-1 and Evansville at 5-3.

Big Foot took control early Tuesday with five first-half goals and three more in the second.

Two goals by Rachel Heidenreich, with one off an assist by Morgan Courier, gave Big Foot a 2-0 lead 18 minutes into the contest. Maddie Palmer added an unassisted goal six minutes later to add to the Chiefs’ lead.

Big Foot closed out the first half on goals by Taylor Romani and Sara Canache, both off assists by Palmer.

The second half was much the same, as Romani completed the hat trick with two more goals, along with one by Annalise Floody in between. Heidenreich was credited with an assist on Romani’s first goal of the second half.

Big Foot goalie Enna Peterson was credited with two saves for the Chiefs.

The win Tuesday came on the heels of a 3-0 victory Monday at Palmyra-Eagle.

Morgan Grunow led the way with two goals, while Payton Courier gave the Chiefs a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal at the 23-minute mark. Ally Mazur had an assist on Grunow’s first goal.

Peterson finished the night with six saves for Big Foot.

Big Foot opened play last week with a 3-0 loss at East Troy. Peterson had five saves.

The Chiefs were back in action Thursday with a crucial RVC matchup at McFarland. Big Foot blanked the Spartans 3-0 in the first meeting of the season back in mid-April.

Big Foot closes its week with another key conference battle Tuesday, May 12, when it travels to Whitewater to face the Whippets.
