Victory improves Big Foot to 5-1 overall

The streak is alive and well – and there really never was a doubt.
A 42-point first half Friday night by the Big Foot football team took care of that, as the Chiefs rolled to a 48-19 Rock Valley Conference win over visiting Parkview.
The Homecoming victory improved Big Foot to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the RVC. The Chiefs now have won 53 straight conference games.
Because it’s his first year at the helm, Big Foot coach Greg Enz said last week after the 52nd straight win that he’s not really sure what to make of the RVC win streak.
But there are plenty of coaches and players who fully understand its importance.
“Being very new, I haven’t necessarily been able to appreciate it or completely absorb what has been accomplished to this point,” Enz said.
“The other coaches on staff that have been here through all of it have a very grounded approach to all of it. This is something that can be reflected on more fairly five to 10 years from now.”
Senior Brandon Hausner got the party started in the first quarter with a pair of touchdown runs. Hausner scored from four and two yards, respectively, to give the Chiefs an early 14-0 lead.
The game became a blowout in the second quarter.

Another senior, Quin Dixon, added a 1-yard touchdown run, followed by a 32-yard fumble return by senior lineman Will Utesch.
The Chiefs’ fourth and final score of the period came with just four seconds left when Morris connected on a 9-yard scoring strike to Michael Heidenreich.
Parkview finally got on the scoreboard in the second half with three scores, but it was too little too late.
Hehr added Big Foot’s seventh touchdown in the fourth quarter when he scored on an 80-yard kickoff return.
For the game, Morris had 140 yards passing, while Hausner carried six times for 33 yards. Hehr led the receiving corps with four catches for 114 yards.
Defensive leaders included Dixon with 14 tackles, Ben Bauer with nine, Tyler Wicks with eight, Cody Menalscino with seven and Evan Graham, Utesch and Robert Chalcoff each with six.
Big showdown Friday
The challenge likely will become a bit stiffer this week when the Chiefs travel to Clinton Friday night to face the Cougars at 7 p.m.
Clinton improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play with a 36-34 upset victory last week over previously unbeaten Brodhead-Juda.
Brodhead had been ranked as high as number two by wissports.net. After the loss to Clinton, Cardinals fell to No. 6 in the latest poll.
