The Big Foot football team’s impressive Rock Valley Conference win streak is alive and well.
And there never was a doubt.
Big Foot barely broke a sweat Friday night in its 35-0 win over visiting Palmyra-Eagle. The win improved the Chiefs to 4-1 overall, 2-0 in the RVC and extended their conference win streak to 52 straight.
The Chiefs scored in every quarter, as the Panthers never put up a fight.
Chandler Hehr got things started when he caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brett Morris to give the Chiefs a 7-0 lead.
Then it was the defense’s turn, as Big Foot’s Anthony Williams returned his second interception for a touchdown in 2014, this a time a 30-yard sprint to the end zone, to build the Chiefs’ lead to 14-0.
Hehr struck again on a 10-yard run before halftime, followed by a 12-yard touchdown by Morris in the third quarter. Senior running back Brandon Hausner ended the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run in the final period.
For the game, Morris passed for 73 yards and rushed for 71 more. Hausner finished with 13 carries for 45 yards, while Michael Heidenreich caught two passes for 44 yards and Hehr four for 29.
Defensive leaders for the Chiefs included Quin Dixon and Will Utesch with 12 tackles, Ben Bauer with 10, Evan Graham with nine and Mickey Setteducate with seven.
Big Foot welcomes Parkview this week for its annual Homecoming contest at 7 p.m. The Vikings are winless this fall, as they dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the RVC with a 41-7 loss to Brodhead-Juda.
Brodhead, ranked second in Division 4, and the Chiefs will meet in the final regular-season game next month in what likely will determine this year’s RVC South Division winner.
