The WIAA Division 1 State Boys Golf Tournament is June 5-6 at University Ridge in Madison.
“I can’t be disappointed with the kids for our second-lowest score of the year,” Elks coach Steve Fisher said. “It was just a tough regional.”
Fisher said the Elks would have advanced to the sectional tournament out of six of the other 16 regionals.
“We had a great front nine and on the back nine, it just wasn’t good enough for the regional we were in,” Fisher said. “The other teams really played well.”
Nolan Shirk led the Elks with an 83 at Riverside. Kyle Schoeneberg scored an 85. Liam Ahler finished at 88, and Nick Keller carded an 89. Q Woyak shot a 100.
Fort Atkinson’s Mason Kent won individual medalist honors.
Badger won the regional with a team score of 304. Janesville Craig and Janesville Parker tied for second (322). Fort Atkinson and Milton tied for fourth (324).
Beloit Memorial finished sixth (325) and Delavan-Darien finished eight (406).
