Coach Todd Frohworth said the Elkhorn Area High School girls basketball team regressed last week.

After a competitive, 54-52 loss to Delavan-Darien Jan. 10 at home in a Southern Lakes Conference game, the Elks lost 63-31 in a Southern Lakes Conference game at Burlington.

The Elks play Westosha Central (4-11, 2-6 SLC) tonight at home in a SLC game.

“We took a step backwards which, goes along with growing pains,” Frohwirth said. “But so many positive things have happened the last few weeks.”

Frohwirth said the Elks took two or three steps forward and one back in the game against Burlington. Elkhorn trailed the Demons 30-11 at halftime. Burlington outscored the Elks 33-20 in the second half.

Payton Christensen led the Elks with eight points. Chloe Ehrhardt added seven. Megan Wallace led Burlington (8-7, 5-3 SLC) with 15 points.

Frohwirth said Christensen has converted 10 of her last 20 3-point attempts in her last three games, and said Olivia May is back from injury and playing well.

The Elks (0-13, 0-7 SLC) posted a season-high in points, but lost 69-56 to Badger Jan. 13 at home in a SLC game.
