Lady Elks post season high

The Elkhorn Area High School gymnastics team won four medals and posted a season-high varsity team score Jan. 21 in the Watertown Varsity Invitational at Watertown High School.

The Elks competed Tuesday in a Southern Lakes Conference meet at Whitewater, and compete Saturday at home in an invitational.

The Elks finished with a team score of 116.800 at Watertown. Watertown won the meet (131.725).

“The invite was a great chance for the girls to see other teams and to compete some of the new skills they have been working on,” Elks coach Amanda Lockhart said. “We improved our team bar score. We still have a lot of work to do on beam.”

Cameron Jacobson tied for first in the vault (8.6) with Jefferson’s Kayla Miller and earned a medal.

Jacobson finished fourth on the balance beam (8.2) Watertown’s Katie Curtis won the event (9.2). Elkhorn’s Christa Jacobs tied for 14th (7.5).

Jacobson tied for 10th in the floor exercise (8.25). Curtis won the event (9.4).

Jacobson finished 14th on beam (7.6). Waunakee/DeForest’s Caylee Powers won the event (8.6).

In the all-around, Jacobson tied for fifth (32.650). Christa Jacobs finished 12th (29.975). Curtis won the all-around title (35.7).
