Swimmers improve to 5-0

Elkhorn improved to 5-0 in Southern Lakes Conference dual meets after winning every event and routing Whitewater 122-47 Jan. 10 at Whitewater.

The Elks compete Saturday in the Red Devil Invite at Bradford High School in Kenosha.

“They keep improving week after week,” Elks coach Jamie Richardson said. “It’s nice to see. Even some of my JV (junior varsity) kids are dropping time.

“It’s fun to watch, as a coach, to see them just get better and better with every race and every meet.”

Bevin Kruse, Alex Johnson, Logan Radlein and Derek Gauger won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:53.67. Kruse won the 100 backstroke (1:00.39).

Hunter Johnson won the 200 freestyle (1:56.66) and Logan Radlein won the 200 individual medley (2:14.40) and 100 butterfly (59.46).

Lucas Koepke won the 50 freestyle (24.60) and 100 freestyle (55.56). Willy Pinnow won the 500 freestyle (5:14.98).

Gauger, Ben Davis, Koepke and Hunter Johnson won the 200 freestyle relay (1:41.36). Dakota Biefeld won the 100 breaststroke (1:11.97).

Davis, Koepke, Pinnow and Hunter Johnson won the 400 freestyle relay (3:47.45).

Pinnow, Biefeld, Ryan Daehn and Spencer Ingersoll finished second in the 200 medley relay (2:01.69).

Hunter Johnson finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:00.23) and Pinnow finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.63). Alex Johnson finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.42).

Gauger, Ingersoll, Dany Bush and Kruse finished second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:56.61).

Richardson said she shuffled the deck for the meet against the Whippets.

“Some kids tried some different relays than they normally swim,” Richardson said. “I was pleased with some of their times.”

Bush finished fourth in the 100 freestyle (58.68) and dropped more than eight seconds off his previous best time.
