Every swimmer medaled Dec. 1 and the Elkhorn Area High School boys swim team won the Southern Lakes Conference Relays Dec. 1 at Delavan-Darien High School.

The Elks finished second Dec. 3 in the Cougar Relays Dec. 3 at Janesville Craig High School, and beat Fort Atkinson 112-41 Nov. 29 in a non-conference dual meet at home.

Elkhorn competes Saturday at home in its own Elk Invite.

The Elks did not win the SLC Relays last season, but won the event nine straight times prior to that, according to coach Jamie Richardson.

The Elks posted 33 personal best times and did not finish lower than third in a single event in finishing first and regaining the title. Elkhorn posted 191 points. Badger Co-op scored 171 and finished second.

The Elks scored 158 points and finished second (184) to Greenfield-Greendale-Milwaukee Pius XI in the Cougar Relays. Richardson said the Elks posted 48 personal best times.

“Like they did at the conference relays, they just came together as a team and just fed off each other,” Richardson said. “They set the bar high. It was fun to see that intensity and drive.”

Grapplers take Knights Scramble

The Elkhorn Area High School wrestling team won four weight classes and finished first Dec. 3 in the 10-team Knights Scramble at Nicolet High School in Glendale.

Elkhorn opened its Southern Lakes Conference season Dec. 1 with a 71-3 victory at home against Delavan-Darien.

The Elks wrestle tonight in a SLC dual meet at Wilmot, and compete Saturday in the Dells Duals Classic at Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconsin Dells.

Elks coach Ken Reynolds said wrestlers were seeded based on last year’s record at Nicolet.

Benji Peak (132 pounds), Daniel Stilling (138), Bryce Jacobson (160) and Riley Remington (182) won their respective weight classes at Nicolet.

Quentin Woyak (106), Grant Truesdale (120), Jacob Wilging (170) and Myles Schumacher (195) finished second, and Richie Heidemann (220) Coleman Karl (126) finished third. Teddy Woyak (113) finished fourth.

“All in all, it wasn’t about winning,” Reynolds said of the Nicolet Scramble. “It was about getting better and seeing our guys – seeing where they’re at and evaluating them. We’re happy with where we’re at.”
