Alyssa Reeves set a school record in the 1,600-meter run and helped lead the Elkhorn Area High School girls track & field team to a fourth-place finish April 29 in the Althiemer Invite at Pewaukee.
Derek Davey won the 800 and led the Elkhorn boys track & field team to a fifth-place finish at Pewaukee.
The Elkhorn boys and girls each finished second to Westosha Central April 29 in a triangular meet at Elkhorn. Burlington finished third.
The Elks compete today in an invitational at Edgerton. Elkhorn hosts its own invite May 10 at EAHS.
“We had another great week, with some outstanding performances from many of our kids,” Elks coach Steve Simonson said.
Reeves broke her own school record in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:18.89 at Pewaukee and won the event.
Isabella Ewan finished second in the 100 at Pewaukee. Also at Pewaukee, Katie Hickey finished second in the pole vault (8 feet, 9 inches) and Madison Page finished second in the long jump (15-11).
Simonson said Hickey’s jump at Pewaukee is the fourth-best by a girl in Elkhorn track & field history.
Natalie Sesing, Ryley Rand, Page and Hailey Czubernat finished third in the 4×100 relay (53.98). Gabby Pinnow finished third in the high jump (5 feet).
Davey won the 800 (1:59.04) and finished second in the 400 (51.24) at Pewaukee. Tyler Daehn finished third in the 110 hurdles (16.05).
Caleb Jacques-Hembree, Brad Baas, Andrew Slack and Sam Divarco finished third in the 4×800 relay (8:45.68).
The boys scored 91.5 points and the girls 90 at the Elkhorn Triangular. Westosha scored 102 in the boys meet and 93 in the girls meet and won each meet. Burlington scored 81 points in the girls meet and 70.5 in the boys meet.
Davey won the 200 (23 seconds) and 400 (52.40) at the triangular. Daehn won the 110 hurdles (16.30), long jump (19-8) and triple jump (39-2).
Ewan tied a school record in the 100 at the Elkhorn Triangular. Ewan won the event in 12.55 seconds.
Pinnow won the 400 (1:05.30) and Reeves won the 1,600 (5:28.30). Taylor Bikowski won the 100 hurdles (17.60).
Tiffany Orin, Page, Payton Christensen and Ewan won the 4×100 relay (55.10).
“It is important that we are starting to have these kinds of performances as we are entering the home stretch of our season,” Simonson said. “Over the next few weeks we will be striving to peak as we reach the conference meet and the WIAA regional and sectional meets.”
