The Elkhorn Area High School girls soccer team outscored its opponents 13-1 last week and went undefeated in three matches.

The Elks beat Janesville Parker 4-1 May 9 in a non-conference match at Parker.       The Elks defeated Delavan-Darien 4-0 May 7 at Delavan and Westosha Central 5-0 May 5 at home in Southern Lakes Conference matches.

Elkhorn (8-2, 3-0 SLC) played Badger (2-5-5, 0-3 SLC) at home Tuesday and plays today at Union Grove (8-3-3, 1-0 SLC) in SLC matches.

Elkhorn coach BZ Kayser said the Elks left goals on the pitch in the victories against Parker, Central and Delavan-Darien.

“We’re not putting the ball in the back of the net as much as we should be,” Kayser said. “We should be putting the ball in the back of the net more.”

Kayser said the Elks out-possessed and outshot Parker (2-10), Central (1-5, 1-2 SLC) and Delavan-Darien (6-6, 1-3 SLC). The Elks are winners of seven straight matches.

Olivia May scored three goals against the Falcons and added another against Delavan-Darien. Megan Skoczylas and Cailin Jacobs also scored against the Comets.

“It’s good to beat Delavan-Darien,” Kayser said. “It was a game we expected to win, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to win.”

Skoczylas scored twice and May and Amanda Papenfus scored once against Parker.

Goalkeeper Abby Bochat played well in the Elks’ three victories, but Kayser said the Elks’ defense also didn’t face any top-flight, game-changing forwards.

Kayser said the game this week against Union Grove and those next week against Burlington (7-2-3, 2-0 SLC) and Waterford (10-4-1, 3-0 SLC) will provide the Elks with a stiffer test.

“We really haven’t had that signature win yet,” Kayser said. “We’re getting close, but we’ll possibly have it, if we can get one, this week or next week.”
