The Elkhorn Area High School gymnastics team finished eighth of nine teams Feb. 28 at a WIAA Division 2 sectional meet at Mount Horeb High School and saw its season come to an end.
The Elks finished with a team score of 117.725. Mount Horeb won the sectional (142.125) and Platteville/Belmont/Lancaster finished second (128.575).
The top two teams at each of five Division 2 sectional meets, along with the first five individuals in the four individual events and the first five individuals in all-around, advanced to the WIAA Division 2 Tournament March 6 & 7 at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School.
In team standings, Milton finished third (128.350), Southwestern/Cuba City fourth (127.050), Dodgeville/Mineral Point fifth (125.625) and Monona Grove sixth (125.125). Jefferson finished seventh (122.725) and Whitewater ninth (116.625).
Amy Kolacke finished 14th in the vault with a score of 8.2 for the Elks best individual finish. Elkhorn’s Cameron Jacobson finished 21st (8.0), Megan Jacobson 23rd (7.925) and Ronica Fuller 24th (7.9). Elizabeth Wills finished 43rd (6.6). Mount Horeb’s Lauren Faust won the event (9.1).
Megan Jacobson finished 17th in the floor exercise and Cameron Jacobson finished 19th (7.9). Fuller finished 27th (7.625), Hailey Mogensen 41st (6.6) and Amy Kolacke 42nd (6.5). Whitewater’s Kelly O’Hara won the event (9.325).
Kolacke and Fuller tied for 22nd (7.750) on the balance beam. Cameron Jacobson finished 30th (7.175), Megan Jacobson 35th (7.050) and Mogensen 38th (6.7). Faust won the event (9.450).
Megan Jacobson finished 29th on the uneven bars (6.9). Kolacke finished 35th (6.5), Fuller 40th (5.65) and Bertille Boulee 44th (3.6). Mount Horeb’s Sarah Duff won the event (9.5).
Duff also won the all-around title with a score of 37.100. Cameron Jacobson finished 23rd (29.9) and Megan Jacobson 24th (29.850). Kolacke finished 28th (28.950) and Fuller 29th (28.925).
