Wrestlers compete at Kramer open, girls lose to Big Foot

The East Troy High School wrestling team posted a 15th-place overall finish at Saturday’s Terry Kramer Open at Fort Atkinson.
East Troy tallied 136 points in the 17-team event.
Slinger was first with 383.5 points, followed by Prairie du Chien with 369.5, Waterford with 347, Kiel with 301 and Janesville Craig with 272.
Max Hudson at 285 pounds had the Trojans’ top overall record for the day at 3-2 to finish ninth overall. Hudson won his last three matches, including a pin in 2 minutes, 27 seconds over Janesville Craig’s Braeden Hopkins in the ninth-place match.
Jonah Edwards (106) was seventh overall at 2-2 for East Troy’s best finish, followed by Wyatt Kegley (126, 1-4) and Jackson Dedick (170, 1-3), eighth; Kyle Nelson (182, 2-3), 10th; AJ Hall (132, 1-3) and Drake Kulick (138, 2-3), 11th; Sam Tuttle (160, 1-4), 12th; Mason Orgas (152, 1-4), 14th; and Sawyer Beckwith (145, 1-4), 15th.
East Troy opened its week with a 63-6 Rock Valley Conference dual meet win Jan. 23 at Big Foot.
Earning wins on the mat for the Trojans were Nelson (182), by pin in 3:51 over Malachi Frederick; Cole McPherson (120), 4-3 over Ashton Robinson; Hall (132), by pin in 2:48 over Cristian Carreno; Kegley (138), by pin in 4:14 over Aaron Rowland; Beckwith (152), by pin in 1:49 over Julian Klein; and Tuttle (160), by pin in 19 seconds over Ranvir Singh.
The Trojans also picked up forfeit victories at 195, 220, 285, 106 and 170 pounds. Both teams forfeited at 113 and 126 pounds.
East Troy’s lone loss against the Chiefs came at 145 pounds, as Aaron Mueller was pinned in 2:45 by Big Foot’s Raul Rojas.
The Trojans return to action Saturday when they travel to the Pewaukee Invitational at 8 a.m.
Girls fall to Chiefs
The East Troy girls basketball team found itself in a 19-point halftime hole that it couldn’t dig out of in a 46-23 RVC loss Jan. 23 to visiting Big Foot.
Big Foot led, 27-8, at the intermission and never looked back.
Morgan Golabowski led the Trojans (0-12, 0-11) with eight points, followed by Emma Scurek with six and Julia Aleckson with five.
East Troy traveled to Evansville on Tuesday night and hosts Whitewater tonight at 7:15 p.m.
Evansville entered play this week atop the RVC standings at 10-1 and 11-4 overall, while Whitewater stands at 5-9 overall and 5-6 in conference play.
The Trojans fell, 56-42, to Evansville in the first meeting of the season and lost, 60-52, at Whitewater.
