Girls tennis continues to rack up victories

The East Troy High School girls tennis team is halfway to the century mark for consecutive wins.
East Troy notched two more Rock Valley Conference dual meet victories last week to run its 2019 record to a perfect 18-0 – its 50th straight overall – and in dominating fashion to boot.
The Trojans opened play with a 7-0 win Sept. 3 over Edgerton, followed by another 7-0 victory two days later over Whitewater.
“(The) kids played great considering it was the first week of school,” East Troy coach Dave Lindow said. “It’s always hard to adjust to playing and getting focused when you have been in school all day. They have been mentally tough all year, and they continue to show that.”
Winning singles matches against Whitewater were Lauren Lindow at No. 1, 6-0, 6-0; Sydney Raddeman at No. 2, 6-2, 6-2; Jessica Tess at No. 3, 6-1, 6-0; and Izzy Galluzzo at No. 4, 6-4, 6-4.
Victorious doubles teams were Katie Metcalf and Sophia Rondeau at No. 1, 6-3, 6-4; Olivia Fitch and Emma Scuric at No. 2, 6-4, 7-5; and Olivia Egle and Emily Stern at No. 3, 6-3, 7-5.
With the clean sweep over the Whippets, the Trojans’ singles players improved to 70-2 overall, while the doubles teams stand at 49-5.
“I’m really proud of how hard these girls work,” Lindow said. “We need to keep working hard and get better every day to reach our goal of winning the conference championship.”
East Troy’s singles players dropped just four games in the 7-0 win over Edgerton.
Picking up victories were Lindow at No. 1, 6-0, 6-0; Raddeman at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0; Tess at No. 3, 6-1, 6-2; and Galluzzo at No. 4, 6-0, 6-1.
Winning doubles matches were Metcalf-Rondeau at No. 1, 6-4, 7-5; Scuric-Fitch at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0; and Stern-Egle at No. 3, 6-3, 6-2.
The Trojans, ranked fifth in Division 2, host Brookfield Central, ranked seventh in Division 1, in a non-conference dual meet Monday afternoon. East Troy returns to RVC action Tuesday against visiting McFarland.
