Brown returns to Elkhorn to fill some pretty big shoes
By Dan Truttschel
It’s been 20 years since Jeff Brown helped the Elkhorn girls basketball team to a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 2 state title as an assistant coach.
Since then, Brown has had a three-year stint in Williams Bay, followed by seven more in East Troy.
But when the chance arose for Brown to return to his roots – and where he’s closing in on the end of his 23rd year as a teacher – it made sense to make the move.
And that’s just what he did.
Brown recently resigned his position with the girls basketball program to take the same job with Elkhorn. He replaces Todd Frowirth, who died earlier this spring after a battle with cancer.
The decision wasn’t entirely an easy one after the years he spent at East Troy, Brown said on Sunday night.
“I’m excited,” he said. “There’s always mixed emotions for these kinds of things. You’re sort of sad to see the relationships you’ve built with the East Troy kids (end), but it’s a little easier for me and my family to be teaching and coaching in the same place.
“The Elkhorn program has been a down a little bit, and I’m excited to try and build it back up. I’m excited to see what the new challenge brings.”
