The East Troy High School wrestling team found itself in the midst of a pretty tough field at the Terry Kramer Open in Fort Atkinson on Jan. 21.

And the final results showed that.

East Troy placed 14th overall with 183.5 points in the 16-team invitational. Sauk Prairie was first with 422.5 points, followed by Lodi with 412.5 and Waterford with 397.5.

Rounding out the top 10 were Lomira with 393 points, Sun Prairie with 367.5, Evansville-Albany with 366, Slinger with 337.5, Pewaukee with 335.5, Fort Atkinson with 282.5 and Janesville Craig with 273.5.

Chris Storandt led the Trojans with a fourth-place effort at 195 pounds.

After a first-round bye, Storandt posted pinfall victories in 41 second and 3:48 over Johnson Creek’s Lucas Sullivan and Beloit Turner’s Cody Krueger, respectively.

Those two wins put Storandt into the finals, where he fell by technical fall, 18-3, to Pewaukee’s Jacob Raschka.

Raschka, 33-2, is currently the state’s top-ranked 195 pounder in Division 1, according to Crossface Magazine.

The loss in the finals sent Storandt to the third-place match against Lomira’s Collin Feucht, ranked third in Division 2, a contest he lost 4-3.

Storandt now is 27-7 overall.

Calvin Collins (106) finished sixth for East Troy’s other top effort, followed by Joe Moede (113) and Chase Coleman (152), seventh.

All three were 3-2 for the tournament.

Also competing for the Trojans were Kelcye Demara (170), eighth; Jacob Mast (220), ninth; John Skinner (285), 11th; Victor Chapman (160); and Jackson Dedick (145), 16th.

East Troy closed its regular season Thursday night against visiting Whitewater. The Trojans then will be idle until Feb. 4, when they travel to Evansville for the Rock Valley Conference Meet.

Trojans split duals

Prior to last Saturday’s tournament, East Troy split a pair of RVC dual meets, as it opened the week with a 50-26 loss at Beloit Turner, but bounced back for a 39-30 win over Edgerton on Friday.
