A 4-3 win over Rock Valley Conference rival Big Foot at its own quadrangular Friday had a double impact for the East Troy boys tennis team.

Not only did it get the Trojans off on the right foot en route to a perfect 3-0 day, it helped put longtime coach Dave Lindow in some pretty elite company.

The victory was Lindow’s 200th overall in his coaching career, as he became the state’s seventh coach to eclipse that mark in both boys and girls tennis and the 22nd in the state to pass that milestone with the boys.

Each of the other six who have achieved that currently are in the Wisconsin High School Tennis Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

“I’m very proud of the young men who have played in this program over the years,” Lindow said. “I’ve had so many wonderful kids to coach who have made this job very enjoyable. What a great group we have this year to share this memory with.”

Posting victories against Big Foot were John Brehm at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1; Brody Woodson at No. 2, 7-6 (4), 6-4; Vince Baxter at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0; and Nick Bourdo at No. 4, 6-3, 6-2.

Dropping matches to the Chiefs were Jaren and Jordan Paullin at No. 1 doubles, 2-6, 1-6; Joe Moede and Jered Brehm at No. 2, 6-4, 4-6 (6-10); and Adam Wells and Lucas Bottum at No. 3, 4-6, 6-3 (6-10).

East Troy closed out the day with a 6-1 win over Edgerton and a 7-0 victory over University Lake School.

Winning matches against the Tide were John Brehm at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1; Woodson at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0; Baxter at No. 3, 6-1, 6-3; Bourdo at No. 4, 6-3, 6-2; the Paullin brothers at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-1; and Moede-Jered Brehm at No. 2, 6-3, 6-1.

Wells-Bottum fell at No. 3 doubles, 3-6, 4-6.

Woodson, Bourdo and Moede-Brehm beat their ULS opponents 6-0, 6-0, while John Brehm and the Paullins dropped just one game in the two-set sweep.

With the sweep over ULS, Woodson, Baxter and Bourdo improved to 6-0; John Brehm and Moede-Jared Brehm improved to 5-1; the Paullins moved to 3-3 and Wells-Bottum are 2-2.

“We are off to a 6-0 start, and I’m really proud of the way these kids compete,” Lindow said. “We have a lot of work to do, but we will try to improve each practice and see how the season plays out.”

The Trojans opened RVC dual meet action last Thursday with a 5-2 win over host Edgerton.
