Girls beat Evansville, lose to Edgerton

East Troy used a 36-19 second half Feb. 12 to pull away for a 59-46 RVC win at Evansville.

The victory improved the Trojans to 9-12 overall and 5-10 in conference play. East Troy closes out its regular season Thursday against defending Division 3 state champion Whitewater.

Katrina Santos led the Trojans against Evansville with 18 points, 16 rebounds and four steals, followed by Mackenzie Lindow with 16 points and four assists. Other leaders included Maddie Rosin (eight points, four assists), Erin Rice (six points, six rebounds), Kayla Casper (six points, eight rebounds) and Ashley Weber (six rebounds).

The win came on the heels of a 43-18 setback Feb. 9 to visiting Edgerton.

East Troy fell behind 24-8 at halftime and never recovered.

Rice led the way with four points and six rebounds followed by Casper with four points and five rebounds, Rosin with three points and four rebounds and Santos with two points and seven rebounds.

After the contest with Whitewater Thursday, the Trojans open Division 3 regional action Feb. 23 when they host ninth-seeded Beloit Turner.

East Troy beat Turner 48-46 earlier this season. The winner travels to top-seeded Whitewater for a second-round contest Feb. 26.
