East Troy had a pair of second-place finishes Saturday at the 16-team Terry Kramer Open at Fort Atkinson.
Jeremy Dedick (160) and Kyle Storandt (220) both advanced to the finals to lead the Trojans.
Dedick defeated Turner’s T.J. Kuhnle by major decision 17-6 in the second round, followed by a pinfall victory in 3:13 over Sun Prairie’s Jack Haraldson and an 18-7 major decision win over Johnson Creek’s Alex David to advance to the finals.
In the title matchup, Dedick fell 2-1 in overtime to Cedarburg’s Ryder Sigler, who improved to 33-1 this year. Dedick now is 30-3 overall.
Storandt won his first two matches by pinfall in 48 seconds and 3:24, respectively, over Waterford’s Boyd Biggs and Brodhead-Juda’s Trent Davis. In the third round, he defeated Cedarburg’s Noah Belschner by major decision 12-4, followed by an 8-5 win in the semifinals over Sun Prairie’s Sam Presser.
In the title matchup, Storandt fell 4-1 to Turner’s Tyler Burt. Storandt now is 29-4 overall.
Other finishers Saturday were Cody Vogel (120), third; Gabe Braam (132), fourth; Joe Moede (106), Chase Coleman (145) and Travis Cadman (170), fifth; Jake Dessart (152), seventh; Charlie Ward (113), eighth; and Jakob Rose (132), 14th.
Prior to Saturday, the Trojans dropped a pair of RVC dual meets.
East Troy lost 45-29 Jan. 21 to Evansville-Albany, which followed a 49-20 loss to Beloit Turner two days before.
Winning matches against Evansville were Dedick (160), by pin in 2:42 over Miles Liesse; Cadman (170), by pin in 3:38 over Austin Anderson; Storandt (220), 7-6 over Lucas Rinehart; Moede (106), by major decision 11-0 over Jared Miller; Vogel (170), by pin in 3:09 over Hunter Georgesen; and Braam (132), by major decision 11-2 over Darren Lange.
The Trojans had three wins on the mat over Turner – Vogel (120), by in in 1:04 over Gavin Campbell; Braam (132), 10-8 over Cole Walker; and Dedick (160), by technical fall 25-8 over T.J. Kuhnle.
East Troy is back in action Saturday when it travels to the Wisconsin Dells Invitational.
