Since it suffered its third straight loss to open the season, everything the East Troy High School football team touched has turned to gold.

And that didn’t stop in the regular-season finale Friday night.

East Troy won its sixth straight game, this time with a 38-27 Rock Valley Conference crossover win over Brodhead-Juda.

The win improved the Trojans to 6-3 overall. The game against the South Division’s Cardinals didn’t count in the final standings. East Troy was 5-1 in the North.

Zach Zewiske rushed for 168 yards on 29 carries and had four touchdowns to lead the Trojans. Quarterback Nick Ruffalo completed 18 of 27 passes for two touchdowns and 228 yards.

Other leaders included Jake Nixon with nine catches for 137 yards, Jake Remsza with four catches for 44 yards and Zewiske with three catches for 30 yards.

Defensive leaders included Zewiske and Truman Kent with 10 tackles, Noah Nyffler with nine, Justin Growel with seven and Jake Pieper with six.

East Troy drew the fourth seed in the Division 4 playoffs and hosts fifth-seeded Big Foot Friday night at 7 p.m. The Trojans beat the Chiefs 20-14 in an RVC crossover game two weeks ago.

The winner Friday advances to a Level 2 game next week against either top-seeded Lodi or eighth-seeded Platteville.
