Also last week, the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin announced that Thoreson had been named as an Academic All-State honoree for 2015.
To be considered, student-athletes had to have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.25, participate in at least 75 percent of their team’s varsity matches and be at least a high school sophomore.
“Jacob is a student-athlete who serves as a great example to others, proving that academic and athletic successes are not mutually exclusive,” Big Foot head coach and All-State Chairman Bob Sullivan said in a press release.
The press release states that 365 boys from 126 high schools were honored this year. The average cumulative GPA of this year’s honorees is 3.72.
