A four-run fifth inning was all the offense the East Troy softball team needed May 8 to post its second win of the spring in a 5-2 Rock Valley Conference decision over visiting Parkview.

East Troy had four hits in the sixth inning and also took advantage of two Parkview errors.

The win improved the Trojans, who fell 18-0 at Evansville the previous day, to 2-8 overall.

Hunter Scheel had two hits, including a double, while Maria Kulick added two hits, to lead the Trojans. Anna Foley, Chloe Jakscht, Morgan McPhail and Kelly Griffa added a hit apiece.

Foley went the distance to pick up the win, as she allowed three hits, two runs, two walks and struck out five.

“It was a well-pitched game by Foley and a strong defensive effort,” East Troy coach Greg Prince said. “(We) only had one throwing error, and a couple timely hits made this (win) happen.”

East Troy traveled to Jefferson Tuesday and hosted the Eagles Thursday. The Trojans will compete in the Walworth County Invitational Saturday at Darien.
