A pair of games with a state qualifier from a year ago proved to be a tough challenge for the East Troy softball team last week.
The Trojans hosted McFarland April 30 and dropped a 14-4 decision, which came on the heels of an 11-0 loss to the Spartans two days earlier.
Both games ended via the 10-run rule in the fifth inning. The losses dropped East Troy to 1-7 overall.
East Troy led the rematch 3-1 after the first inning, but McFarland knotted the score at 3-3 in the third and took control with three runs in the fourth and eight more in the fifth.
McFarland scored in all five of its at bats in the week’s first game, including two in the fifth inning.
Statistics from both games were unavailable by press time.
East Troy was back in action Tuesday afternoon at Evansville and hosted Evansville in the rematch Thursday.
