The East Troy High School baseball team scored runs in bunches in its two games last week.
And with those runs came a pair of convincing victories.
East Troy blew open a close game May 13 with visiting Clinton, as it scored six runs in the second inning and eight more in the third en route to a 16-0, five-inning victory.
The Trojans followed that Rock Valley Conference win with a 10-1 victory two nights later over visiting Parkview.
East Troy headed into action this week at 11-7 overall and 9-5 in the RVC. The Trojans hosted McFarland Tuesday afternoon, but results were unavailable by press time.
Josh Oswald led the hit barrage in the week’s first game with two, two runs scored and four RBI. Other offensive leaders included Connor Mitchell with two hits and three runs scored; Nick Ruffalo with two hits, two runs scored and two RBI; Will Iloncaie with a hit, three runs scored and two RBI; and Nathan Dallas with a hit, a run scored and two RBI.
Iloncaie went the distance to pick up the win, as he walked two in five innings of work.
The first three innings proved to be all the offensive highlights East Troy needed in the win over Parkview, as the Trojans scored all 10 of their runs in those three frames.
Mitchell had a team-high three hits, three runs scored and an RBI, followed by Iloncaie with two hits, two runs scored and five RBI; Oswald with a hit and two RBI; and Evan Wick with an RBI.
Oswald picked up the win, as he allowed four hits, an earned run, three walks and struck out six in five innings. Jason Dopke worked two innings in relief and allowed a hit.
Following Tuesday’s McFarland contest, the Trojans travel to McFarland Thursday for a rematch with the Spartans. East Troy closes out its week Saturday, May 24, with a non-conference contest at Waterloo.
