The past week was a mixed bag of sorts for the East Troy High School baseball team.

In between two hard-fought losses, including a 3-2 setback Monday afternoon at Big Foot, the Trojans put up 21 runs in a victory over Elkhorn.

With the 1-2 week, the Trojans took a 7-5 overall mark and a 5-3 record in the Rock Valley Conference North into a road matchup Tuesday at Beloit Turner.

Results of that contest were unavailable by press time.

East Troy opened play with a twinbill split at Elkhorn Friday afternoon, as it fell 6-3, but bounced back to win the nightcap 21-11.

The game Monday with Big Foot was tight throughout.

East Troy jumped out in front with a single run in the first inning, but the Chiefs answered with a game-tying run in the third.

And that’s how the score stayed until the sixth, when the Trojans regained the lead at 2-1. But Big Foot pushed the tying and eventual winning runs across the plate in the bottom of the frame.

Connor Mitchell led the offense with two hits and a run scored, followed by Jason Dopke and Josh Oswald with a hit and an RBI. Ryan Olsen chipped in with a hit and a run scored.

Will Iloncaie and Dopke combined to pitch six innings for the Trojans. Iloncaie allowed six hits, two earned runs, a walk and struck out one, while Dopke allowed two hits, an earned run, four walks and struck out one.

Iloncaie had a team-high three hits in the 6-3 loss to Elkhorn Friday, while Mitchell had two hits and two runs scored. Joe Ciriacks added two hits for the Trojans.

Iloncaie went the distance on the mound, as he allowed four hits, two earned runs, three walks and struck out six.

The offense kicked it into high gear in the nightcap, as the Trojans banged out 16 hits en route to the 21-11 victory.

After East Troy scored seven runs in the third, Elkhorn answered with six of its own in the bottom of the frame to tie the score at 11-11.

From there, however, the game belonged to East Troy, as it exploded for 10 runs the next two innings to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Olsen had three hits, two runs scored and two RBI, while Mitchell had three hits and four runs scored. Oswald added three hits, two runs scored and three RBI.

Iloncaie, Evan Wick and Dopke also drove in three runs for East Troy.

Following Tuesday’s contest with Turner, the Trojans travel to Edgerton Thursday afternoon, followed by a home game Saturday against Jefferson at 9 a.m.
