Scoring is scarce in two RVP losses

Offense was a bit difficult to come by during the past week for the East Troy boys soccer team.
The Trojans managed just one goal in each of its two Rock Valley Conference contests, a pair of 4-1 losses, that dropped them to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the RVC.
East Troy was back in action Tuesday night against visiting Jefferson. Results were unavailable by press time.
Against Evansville Aug. 29, the only East Troy goal came from the foot of Kai Bottum, who scored unassisted. The hosts had two goals in both halves to account for the final score.
“We had several mental mistakes,” East Troy coach Mike Bottum said. “We did a much better job one-on-one and cutting passing lanes defensively. (They) marked us well.”
In the week’s first match Aug. 27 at McFarland, Kai Bottum again accounted for East Troy’s only goal. His father said the goal came off a free kick from about 30 yards out.
“McFarland had a much more physical presence,” Bottum said. “It’s something we are working (on) through intelligent ball control, passing rather than challenging, especially in the midfield.”
