The Delavan-Darien baseball team lost home and away games with Union Grove last week. The Comets also lost a tough non-conference game at Big Foot.

The Comets hosted Union Grove on April 23 and lost 10-0 in five innings. The Broncos jumped on the Comets early for four runs in the first inning and one more in the second. They then put the game away with a five-run fourth inning.

Union Grove scored 10 runs on 11 hits and benefitted from three Comet errors. Bronco starter Jake Zimmermann held the Comets to five hits in five scoreless innings.

The Comets got three hits in the fifth inning but could not score. Cole Hanson and Eric Cesarz led off the inning with singles. Justin Cesarz hit into a fielder’s choice erasing Hanson at third. Seth Sybesma popped out. Ben Butke singled to left field, but Eric Cesarz was thrown out at home trying to score from second to end the game.
