The Delavan-Darien High School baseball team dropped two Southern Lakes Conference games to Union Grove last week, but beat Medford in non-conference action at Miller Park on Wednesday.

At Miller Park the Comets (5-6, 2-4) beat Medford 7-4, picking up seven hits in the win.

Devin Salas started things off for the Comets in the bottom of the first inning when he singled, followed up by a single by Isaac Ramos. Micah Heath hit a double in his first at-bat, scoring Salas and Ramos, and Heath later scored on a sacrifice by Jacob Benzing.

The Comets added two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth to go on for the 7-4 win.

Ramos and Heath were both 2-for-3, and Isiah Ramos got the win from the mound, pitching two innings, striking out two and walking one.

The Comets hosted Union Grove last Thursday night and lost 2-0 after only getting three hits.

Isaac Ramos, Isiah Ramos and Sam Seitz got hits in the game, and Heath took the loss from the mound. Heath pitched six innings, walking six and striking out eight.

Friday night the Comets travelled to Union Grove, and, despite being a closer game, the Comets lost 5-4.

The Broncos got on the board first in the second inning and went up 1-0 until the Comets took the lead in the fifth inning when they scored three runs.

Roman Gonzalez started the inning off with a single and after two Comet outs, Isiah Ramos walked and Devin Salas singled. All three would score to put the Comets up 3-1.

Union Grove answered back in the bottom half of the inning, tying things up at 3-3 and both teams were held scoreless in the sixth inning.

In the top of the seventh, Isiah Ramos started the inning off with a double and later scored to give the Comets the 4-3 advantage.

That would be it for the Comet bats, and, in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Broncos came back and scored two runs to get the 5-4 win.

Isiah Ramos and Gonzalez had two hits each for the Comets.

Sam Seitz pitched six innings for the Comets, striking out two and walking two.

Isiah Ramos took the loss, pitching the last inning, walking two.

Tonight the Comets host Lake Geneva Badger at 4:30 p.m. and next Tuesday host Waterford at 4:30 p.m.
