The Whitewater girls basketball team is right where they need to be after the first full week of December. The Whippets are creating their own identity instead of comparing themselves to teams in the past. And they are navigating this journey together, letting the chips fall where they may.
Whitewater is 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the Rock Valley Conference after five games. After a non-conference loss at Marshall and their first conference loss to first-place Jefferson at home, the Whippets won three straight Rock Valley Conference games, including two on the road.
Maybe some people thought that it would be a meltdown in the first quarter of the regular season but Whitewater is one of five teams with identical conference records. The Whippets are sticking to their brand of basketball.
“The team chemistry has definitely stepped up,” senior guard Allison Heckert said.
