Girls basketball team prepares for potentially winning season

Judy Harms is leading the Whitewater girls basketball team into a new era. The longtime coach will challenge the returning varsity players to blend with the newcomers.
No one knows for sure how the upcoming season will turn out, but one thing is clear. This edition of the Whippets may not come close to duplicating the successes of the team that won the 2015 Division 3 state championship or the 2016-17 squad that was denied a trip to state in a loss to Madison Edgewood in the sectional final.
The odds are against the 2017-18 squad to win 23 games in a row as last season’s team did, losing only the first and last games of the season to finish 23-2.
Can this year’s Whippet team go 16-0 in the Rock Valley Conference again? Time will tell but they are the favorites to repeat as conference champions.
