Geldermann wins twice at State

Cricket Geldermann won two matches at the Individual State tennis tournament last Thursday and Friday. Geldermann won her first round match against Elizabeth Edsell of Oshkosh West 6-0, 6-4 on Thursday. On Friday Geldermann defeated Lily Simonson of Madison West 6-0, 6-0.

Geldermann lost in the third round 6-3, 6-3 to #1 seeded and undefeated Elizabeth Konan of Homestead. Konan ended up the Division 1 singles champion. Geldermann finished the season 24-3.

Badger’s Lily Fisher, who came into the State Tournament undefeated at 23-0, lost her first round match to Meredith Holt of La Crosse Logan.

The Badger doubles team of Joanie Williams and Andrea Chironis lost their first round match against Hanna Muche and Katie Lang of New Berlin Eisenhower.

The Badgers first ever appearance at the Team State Tournament begins today.

Soccer loses Regional Semifinal

      The Badger soccer team lost its WIAA Regional semifinal game to Racine Horlick (14-5-3) 2-1 in overtime on October 9. After a scoreless first half, the Badgers (12-10-1) took the lead on an unassisted goal by Joe Ahlgren. Horlick’s Sergio Duran tied the score assisted by Mikey Modesti. Horlick won the game in overtime on a penalty kick.

Volleyball finishes 8th

      The Badger volleyball team finished 8th at the Southern Lakes Conference Tournament on Saturday. The Badgers lost to Elkhorn 23:25 and 10:25, lost to Delavan-Darien 21:25, 24:26, 25:17, and 22:25, and lost to Wilmot 21:25, 15:25, 25:12, and 28:30.

The Badgers lost to Elkhorn in their last regular season match 20:25, 13:25, and 18:25 on Oct. 9. The Badgers (8-17, 1-4 SLC) were led by Autumn Mikrut with nine assists, four digs, and one kill. McKinley Veith had five kills, two aces, and four digs. Emma Dumez had four digs, three kills, and one ace. Colleen Logternam had six digs and an ace. Emma Veith had four kills and an assist. Paige Stan had five digs.

The Badgers open WIAA playoff action tonight as the #14 seed at #3 seeded Kenosha Bradford (20-5).

Cross Country takes second

      The Badger cross-country team had its highest finish in four years by taking second at the SLC Conference Meet on Saturday. Tomas Pecha led the Badgers by taking third individually. Pecha also was named First Team All SLC for the third time in his career.

Three young Badgers earned second-team all SLC honors including junior Gavin Denecke, sophomore Jake Pierce, and freshman Cody Sadikof. Sophomore Jacob Bessenhofer earned honorable mention. The cross country team moves on to Sectionals at Verona on Saturday.

Swim team beats D-DHS and takes third in invite

      The Badger swim team defeated Delavan-Darien 124-46 on Oct. 9. Individual first place finishes were turned in by Anna Brooks in the 200 Yard IM, Carly O’Brien in the 50 Yard Freestyle, Liz Carlson in the 100 Yard Butterfly, Evelyn Edge in the 100 Yard Freestyle, Natalie Stratton in the 100 Yard Backstroke, and Sammi Divito in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.

Relay firsts were won by the 200 Yard Medley, 200 Yard Freestyle, and 400 Yard Freestyle relay teams.

The Badgers took third at the Fort Atkinson Blackhawk Invitational on Saturday with 326.5 points. DeForest won the invite with 460 points.

Individually Brooks took first in the 200 Yard IM (2:07.07) and second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:07.08). Kaarin Quaerna took first in the 50 Yard Freestyle (25.47) and the 100 Yard Freestyle (55.14).

The 400 Yard Freestyle relay team took first (3:43.90). The 200 Yard Freestyle and 200 Yard Medley relay teams both took third.
